A poster Identity for Carnaval that reinstates the historical significance of the festival.

The ’theory of wrong’ is utilized to represent resistance and rebellion.

Background:

Carnaval is an act of rebellion. Historically, it was a celebration of resisting colonialism and oppressive monarchies. During Carnaval, Samba along with other cultural practices were deliberately performed in the streets to express discontent with colonialism.

The demographic (20-40) would mostly be educated on the history Carnaval. As my concept developed, I created definitive lines of text that would start to unravel as the viewer read on, thus giving a feeling of breaking free. In this piece I tried to play with the ‘theory of wrong’, which was a lot of fun!
